BBCode Guide

Post by NightOwl on Fri Mar 11, 2016 4:35 pm

WIP Guide. Will post on CC once the new theme is carried over b/c some of the codes (like the header and hr line) don't work well on CC b/c of it's current theme.

----------------------------------
**Quick Note. I made this guide mostly for new members who might have never been on a forum before. Which is why it goes so in depth.

Most of the stuff I've put in this guide is pretty basic stuff everyone probably already knows, but I did add a few cool things some of you might not have known of. :]

Basics:

Code:
[b] Bold font [/b]
[i]Italicized font[/i]
[u]Underlined font[/u]
[strike]Strike [/strike]

[sup]Exponent[/sup]
[sub]Index[/sub]

[hr] Line separator

Hashtags & Tagging a user:
A Hashtags is a label for content. It helps members who are interested in a certain topic, quickly find content on that same topic. Hashtags also connect with the Keywords widget on the left sidebar. The symbol of Hashtags is: #

When you tag a user, it gives them a notification that tells them they were tagged and it will link them to the post that they were tagged in. The symbol for Tags is: @
If the user only has one word in their username, you only need to do this: @User
But, if a user has more than one word, you'll need to do this: @"User Name"
Tables:
Code:
The tables are divided into table rows with the TR code.
Table rows are divided into table data with the TD code.

[table border="1"]
[tr]
[td]Row 1 Col 1[/td]
[td]Row 1 Col 2[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]Row 2 Col 1[/td]
[td]Row 2 Col 2[/td]
[/tr]
[/table]

If you don't want the border to be there, replace the 1 with a 0.

Row 1 Col 1Row 1 Col 2
Row 2 Col 1Row 2 Col 2
Text Indent:
Forumotion actually doesn't support the Indent feature and there is no way to add it to the site, so we will have to use a loop hole to get a similar effect. To do that, we'll have to use the table code and it will only need 1 column and 1 row. Then find the very first TD code and add: style="padding-left: 30px" to it. That controls how much space will be on the left side of the text. You can make the number bigger or smaller to decide exactly how much space you want there.

Code:
text text text text text
 text text text text text

[table][tr][td style="padding-left:30px"] text text text text text
 text text text text text
[/td]
[/tr]
[/table]

text text text text text
text text text text text

text text text text text text text text text text text text
text text text text text text text text text
